I finally finished the huge chest of drawers today.
Yesterday I dressed the veneers with linseed and it really has brought out the lovely graining and restored lustre to the walnut. You can see the difference in the picture below – the bottom 2 drawers have been dressed and I had just started work on the middle set when I took the pic. You can see how the colour looks much richer and the graining more defined on the areas that have been worked on.
So, here they are, done and dusted. I used Annie Sloan’s ‘Paris Grey’ and a little ‘Old White’ on the carved areas.
Next project is a record player cabinet, which is being re-invented as a tv cabinet. It’s had a couple of coats of paint and should be finished early next week. Pics to follow.
