Following on from my last post, I have another bureau to refurbish. I bought it at auction a couple of weeks ago. It’s one of those items that got under my skin when I went to the auction viewing. There was a rush of adrenaline when the lot number came up, followed by an anti-climax when I got it for the opening bid:

I love the chunky turned legs and the heavily carved detail:

It’s in good condition on the inside too:

I really should be painting dining chairs tomorrow, but I can’t wait to get started on the bureau. I’ve painted a few bureaux in Annie Sloan ‘French Linen’, so it’s time to ring the changes. Perhaps if I paint a couple of dining chairs and then have an hour or two on the bureau?
